Athena Pathway: Application Update

Thank you to everyone who submitted their application to Athena Pathway.

We’re really excited to announce that the first group of 12 sailors have been selected to take part in three camps (Weymouth, UK), organised between now and December, to train on the Athena ETF26 race boat.

We were blown away by the 300+ applications received, and the high standard of submissions made this selection incredibly tough. The aim is that more sailors will get the chance to be involved as the project grows. Selection at this point was based on eligibility to compete in the Women’s and Youth America’s Cup, foiling and fast boat experience, and high-level racing results.

This has been the first of several planned selection phases, with many more opportunities for shore crew, singlehanded foiling and ETF26 trials to come. Those that have not been selected will remain eligible for these next phases of the project with the aim to broaden the impact of the Athena Pathway Project.

The group of sailors who have had the opportunity to sail the ETF26 over the last few months, including racing last week La Rochelle, will remain with the team and help the new sailors during the upcoming training camps.

Please keep sailing and training as there will be more opportunities in the future to be involved in Athena Pathway.
