In a spectacular showcase of skill, speed, and determination, Ellie Aldridge has etched her name into Olympic history by winning Olympic gold in the first-ever Formula Kite event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This momentous victory not only marks a personal triumph for Aldridge but also signifies a groundbreaking achievement for the sport, which made its Olympic debut on the waters of Marseille.
Throughout the competition, Aldridge displayed a masterclass in kite control, tactics, and sheer speed, outmanoeuvring her rivals in the final medal race where she held her ground in a close cross with the French foiler, Lauriane Noulot. The deciding moment came at the first top mark when Noulot tacked above Aldridge, Ellie managed to carry the speed and tack in front of Noulot onto the lay line, forcing the French rival out where she tangled lines with The Netherlands and dropped into the water.
